Overcome Your Intense Fear or Phobia with Therapy
Stop avoiding situations and things that create stress and interfere with your life
I’m a therapist who has helped many people overcome a phobia safely and quickly.
Your phobia may prevent you from engaging in specific activities and lead to other problems such as anxiety or depression.
When you have a phobia, even thinking about the situation may bring up overwhelming feelings of dread.
At worst, when you’re exposed to the thing you fear, you may have a panic attack where your body shakes, your heart pounds, and breathing becomes difficult.
You likely know the fear is illogical, but you can’t control it or the reactions in your mind and body.
Here are the most common fears people have – perhaps you’re afraid of one of these?
- Bugs, snakes, mice, spiders and bats
- Heights
- Water
- Storms
- Closed spaces (claustrophobia)
- Tunnels and bridges
- Fear you’ll get a serious illness
- Needles or health care
- Blood or vomit
It’s important to know that if you struggle with any of the above, it’s not your fault.
It’s likely some distressing event previously in your life led to this debilitating fear. In some cases, the cause of the irrational fear may be unknown.
Your mind and body involuntarily have become habituated to thinking that the thing you fear is dangerous.
The good news is…
Phobias are treatable!
Studies show that Exposure Therapy is the most effective therapy for reducing or eliminating severe fears about specific situations, animals, or other things.
Exposure Therapy is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy, often known simply as CBT. CBT and Exposure Therapy have been around for more than 50 years. They continue to be one of the most popular methods used by therapists worldwide.
I’m one of the few therapists trained in this powerful technique in the Washington, DC area.
I’ll gradually and gently help you decrease your fear using these techniques. You’ll be in complete control of the process at all times.
Often within a few short months, you can be exposed to the situation without having such an intense adverse reaction!
As a therapist specializing in various types of anxiety, I’ve been helping people overcome their worries and fears since 2007.
I’d be delighted to help you too. I love my work – it’s gratifying to see people make such significant improvements in their lives.
Imagine what life would be like if you didn’t feel terror about something that has little or no risk of danger…
You can:
- Feel calm and relaxed without responding in fear when you think about or experience the situation or thing that previously caused intense distress.
- Build confidence that you can face your fears and overcome them. This may also boost your confidence in other areas of your life.
- Have more control over your emotions and develop skills to manage anxieties that may surface in the future.
- Be more flexible and enjoy your life more, knowing that you no longer have to avoid anything.
