Frequently Asked Questions
1. What therapy approach do you use?
I use a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) called Exposure Therapy. It’s the most researched method of psychotherapy, and studies show that it is the most effective therapy approach.
2. How do I know if I can benefit from your approach?
CBT/Exposure Therapy works fairly quickly with most clients. I’ve trained in this approach and have practiced it for several years with my clients.
I’ve had success with many clients who’ve had limited or no success with other therapists in the past using other approaches.
CBT/Exposure Therapy is effective with general anxiety, health anxiety or a phobia.
Exposure Therapy is a clear, structured and goal-centered approach. As a therapist, I take a more active role than most therapists would using only traditional talk therapy.
We do talk about your anxiety when we use the 7 steps in Exposure Therapy, but I also support you through the exposures and encourage you to practice them at home.

3. How long does it take before I feel better?
Using Exposure Therapy, on average, can take anywhere between 5-20 sessions. Most clients start to see progress after a few sessions.
4. What if I’m too afraid to be exposed to the things that cause me anxiety?
The 7-step process I use gradually exposes you to the situations, thoughts, objects, or places you fear. We’ll begin with things that create only mild anxiety that you feel you can handle.
We only move at a pace at which you feel safe. You always have complete control of the process and how we progress.
5. I get exposed to the things I’m afraid of all the time. It hasn’t worked so far. Why would Exposure Therapy work for me?
Currently, you may be avoiding, or partially avoiding, the situation that triggers your anxiety. The more you avoid the situation, the more anxiety you experience. You may not even be aware that you’re avoiding the situation.
I use a structured 7-step approach that increases your awareness of when and how you’re avoiding and allows you to gradually be exposed to your fears, reducing or eliminating them.
6. What if the thing or situation I’m afraid of is dangerous?
I will never put you in a dangerous situation.
Instead of exposing you to a dangerous situation, I’ll create conditions that mimic being in the actual situation that you fear.
7. How long are therapy sessions?
All therapy sessions are 45 minutes long and are currently held online via video conference.
8. What happens in the free 15-minute inquiry call?
During the free inquiry call, you can briefly share your concerns and ask any questions about working with me in therapy. I’ll also share how I will work with you to help resolve your fears and worries.
You can book the free 15-minute call here.
9. Do you accept insurance?
I am an in-network provider for most Blue Cross, CareFirst, and Anthem plans. I accept all other insurances as an out-of-network provider and will submit claims on your behalf and the cost per session is $175.
